FREE entry, no booking required.
Clifton Suspension Bridge Museum tells the story of the 'ornament of Bristol' and the people who built, maintain and treasure it. Explore the turbulent history of the ‘first love’ of famous British engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel through an award winning exhibition packed with family activities and staffed by knowledgeable volunteers.
The Museum can be found in Leigh Woods on the North Somerset side of the bridge, a short walk from Clifton Village where you’ll find bus stops, pay and display parking, boutique shopping, cafes and coffee shops. Entrance to the Museum is free, although donations are appreciated.
Free tours for families and individuals take place every Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday throughout the year and begin on the Clifton (Bristol) side of the bridge. Ticketed tours of the ‘secret’ vaults inside the Leigh Woods abutment are available on selected dates and must be booked in advance through the bridge website. Groups may book private tours at any time, with a coach drop-off point available on Observatory Road, BS8 4AW (there is a weight limit of 4 tons so coaches may not cross the bridge).
---
The bridge itself is open free of charge to all pedestrians 24/7 and no pre-booking is required to cross. There is a £1 toll for motor vehicles.
